F.A.Q.

Ready to get started? Here’s some common questions we get about building your driveway.

What are my options for driveway materials?

Common driveway materials include gravel, crushed stone, pavers (concrete or brick), and asphalt. The material you choose will depend on your budget, personal preference, and the specific conditions of your property. We can help you choose at the time of consultation!

How long does it take to install a driveway?

The time it takes to install a driveway will vary depending on the size and complexity of the project, as well as the type of material you choose. We are often able to complete an average sized driveway in a day! During our free estimate we can estimate this better.

How do I decide on the size and layout of my driveway?

The size and layout of your driveway should be based on the amount of space you have available and how you plan to use the driveway. Consider factors such as how many cars you will need to park, and whether you need room for turning around or for a basketball hoop. It’s a good idea to consult with with us first to ensure that your driveway will be functional and comply with local Nanaimo regulations.

Are there any zoning or permitting requirements for building a driveway?

In most cases, you will need to obtain a building permit before installing a driveway. We can definitely help with nagivating this process and ensuring your driveway meets zoning requirements and complies with any regulations regarding stormwater management and erosion control.

Gravel driveways are the most affordable, is this a good choice?

Gravel driveways are an affordable option for a driveway material, however, it’s important to keep in mind that they may have downsides such as difficulty navigating in bad weather, being more prone to erosion, being noisy when driven on, creating dust and may require regular maintenance. Whether a gravel driveway is the best choice for you depends on your budget, personal preference, and the specific conditions of your property.  We can help you decide during an estimate. If you choose to go with gravel, we also offer aggregate delivery
